Parc-Ex Posting Heat Map

Chacun Son Histoire
With Olivia Cheong (potential logos) and Tristan Kurtz (site design)

My first attempts were using entirely SVGs, and due to the requirement to support multiple languages, I was thinking of using icons more than text. Through feedback from team-mates and the Chacun Son Histoire team I switched to google maps.
One of the issues I had with google maps was that it was no longer css reactive, which made it more difficult for me to in incorporate text and reactive visual elements for the final.

As there were only two stories ready to display, I added in some demo pointers to show more of what the heat map would do. The idea I was aiming for was of beacons of community and that less of the map being greyed out as more posts would be added. Size of icons is related to how recently it was posted, while the colour under the icon is related to the number of posts related to that area.

I was intending to add pop overs with further information on the tags, however errors in my code, I wasn't able to manage them correctly and they would not appear in positions related to the markers. As the site itself was not generating "pages" I wasn't able to make them links either... I need to fix that.
